Hello All, Just wondering if anyone know the retail price of MTH standard gauge track?? I am looking to buy some Straights, curves, 1/2 straights, 1/2 curves and Bumpers. I want all new from MTH. I have no idea what they cost now days. Just wanted to know what they would sell for in hobby shops?? I did a search and I found from MTH’s website that Straights andf curves are $3.99/ea and 1/2 straights and curves are $2.99/ea and that a pair of yellow bumpers are $49.95/pr. These are the listed prices in the 2008 MTH tinplate catalog. But, I know hobby shops have to make a profit, so would the prices be higher?? I know one hobby shop near me has straights and curves for $4.49/ea and 36" long straights for $7.99/ea, they did not have any 1/2 sections or bumpers. So, i found another hobby shop close to me, that has 15% off for christmas, and they do have standard track, but they said they sell them for listed price. What is the listed price for all the track?? Its been a while since i bought new track. Any input will help. Thank you very much!!
List price is what is printed in the catalog.
The manufacturers sell at a discount to wholesalers, who sell to the hobby shops and train shops, who then either sell at list/retail or they sell for slightly lower than retail. Hope this helps.
lionel2,
I don’t know if you noticed it, but that new owner of our LHS usually marks items up 25% from MSRP. Have you tried Brady’s in Greensburg? John, the owner, usually sells significantly below MSRP.
I would call one of the Major train shops that sells MTH standard gauge trains.
Jims Train Shop of Homer City, PA would be a good one to check prices 724-479-2026
