Return Loop

I am looking for some schematics for a modular HO scale return loop. If anyone know where I can find some it would be greatly appreciated!

What do you mean by a return loop?

Also called a reverse loop.

That would be a track configuration where a train turns around and goes back the same way it came.

See here for example: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/500/simple.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?95911-Reverse-Loop-Variations&h=447&w=553&sz=7&tbnid=9eWMMpqFVbu36M:&tbnh=103&tbnw=127&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dreverse%2Bloop%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=reverse+loop&usg=__Sy1Gs5Rv45U05S3ZmQ4R14_Bu3E=&docid=zsMjVj00b6C-AM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=JeloUZ2VMtGM0QGH_4GICg&ved=0CEEQ9QEwBA&dur=84

A 180 degree turnback loop (I prefer the word curve here) is often called a return loop (Like a half circle). Which is quite different from a reversing loop.

The latter can be seen on the previous posting.

the thread, Reverse Loop Power Issues may answer your question

Wiring a model train reverse loop provides a clear explanation using separate reversing switches

Here’s a schematic for my reversing loop using a PSX-AR auto-reverser (with tortoise control).

The Atlas wiring book has information on wiring a reverse loop. I’m sure any good model rr wiring book will too.

Good luck,

Richard

Are you asking about wiring? or construction of the loop, i.e., a track diagram?

DC or DCC? That is the question.
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to wire
With analog voltage of timeworn tradition,
Or to embrace the digital amidst a Sea of feeders,
And by color-coding, to understand them: to start, to stop
No more by mere voltage, but rather modulated square wave.
The CV, and the 128 Natural speed steps
That bits are heir to? 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To shutdown, to sleep,
To sleep, perchance to Dream; Aye, two taps of F6,…

Alas, poor Yorick, without this single bit of information,

I’d barely know where to begin…

I am going to let the OP say bsomething now.

Yes I am just looking for ideas and schematics simply for the construction of a loop that would start at and return to a wye in the middle of it with the purpose of letting my trains make a complete run on my point to point layout.

Please have a look at the postings of Maxman and Gregc. If these drawings are not sufficient, nothing will be.

It might be helpful however to learn the proper words.

You want a track-plan for a reversing loop. Maybe you want a wiring schematic as well.

You want your trains to make a complete turn on your point-to point layout.

You could use a wye-turnout to complete the reversing loop. A “wye” is a different track configuration which also allows you to change the direction of a train.

When laying out something e.g. a reversing loop with snap track like Kato Unitrack, Marklin or Atlas Snap-track, you will find out it will never completely fit. Having some short pieces of track nearby and some twisting will usually do the trick. Since snaptrack pieces from different brands are not the same, it is hard to know how to get it fit in your situation.
