It looks as if Ring has stopped production of any EOT36 or EOT33 variants, perhaps because of competition from the somewhat cruder Bachmann 42907. The company appears to be concentrating on wireless control.

You might contact Ring directly about the situation.

They’re no longer making it. I know that East Coast Circuits is coming out with one in 2026 as they showed it at the National Train Show this past July

Try this website: Lighting Effects for the Railroad

They have several lighting and sound effects options.

Thank you. The Bachmann product is not even close to the Ring in appearance or quality. Thanks for the lead. Steve Moore

I have two of the Ring 33" EOT, and they are great. I would like a couple more. I am thinking that I may buy a Bachmann car, remove the circuitry, then graft a better EOT casting and a small red SMD in its place. Hopefully, that will work or can be made to work.

My only reservation about ECC is that their stuff tends to be pricey. I don’t expect them to beat Bachmann’s price, but I hope they don’t double it, either.

Looking at the original link:

If you’re going to have an eot hooked up to a truck, they should have made one of the wires as a replacement for the air hose so it actually laces up to the eot.

I guess a modeler could take that on as a project as well.

The Ring EOT back in 2006 had an MSRP of $39.95. ECC makes quality stuff so you get what you pay for, just like anything else out there…

Absolutely correct. I believe I bought my Ring EOTs from MTS at a 20% discount, which helped.

Yes I know. I contacted East Coast Circuits, and they are going to contact me when it is available. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions and leads. Steve Moore :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I have no idea about the quality of operation, but the Bachmann EOT is a more recent design of EOT than the Ring EOT. That’s why it doesn’t look like the Ring design. The newest EOTs are taller, like the Ring design, but thinner. All 3 types are still in use.

Jeff

You guys only have 3 types? I think we’re at 5 minimum. And yes; we have our favorites.

I think I’ve seen some foreign EOTs that have some differences, other than color. Most of ours seem to be of three designs. The Ring type started out as battery EOTs, but all are air turbines now. I remember when I hired out there were still batteries for another design EOT. I only saw charged batteries, never the EOT that used them. I did see them before hiring out, I think they were the first true EOT, on the CNW and IAIS. The ATSF also used them and had Pentrex make a training video for them and the old Star marker. I think I still have the VHS tape.

Jiff, East Coast Circuits has a new HO EOT coming out in Spring '26. Looking forward to that. Thanks for your reply. Steve
