Road/street and sidewalk dimensions for N Scale

Hi,

As I begin to plan out were to put things on my layout, I wanted to know how wide Roads/streets and sidewalks should be for N scale.

Thanks

Andy

A “standard” travel lane is 12 feet wide. A “standard” parking lane 8 feet wide. In the real world there is a lot of varity. (9 foot lanes ar generally the minimum with striped) 10 foot lanes are a good compromize lane width. In N scale 10 foot is 3/4 inch. Side walks 3 feet (3/8 inch) to 5 foot or more. Narrower walks in residential areas and wider in commerical areas. The overall width of a curb and gutter is about 1 foot.

well it kinda depends on what kind of roads you want like if you want a no outlet road, a side road, or a main road[C):-)]

I just typed, “Road and sidewalk widths, N scale,” into the search block at the bottom of this page. It returned six threads with lots of data and ideas.

Try it. You’ll like it.
