Its in and out for me ,too. It may be weather related . They are having some storms and high winds . RON
No issues today (Monday) but over the last few days I have found the camera sometimes not available.
I pointed out that watching the cam in browser is hopeless. Firefox, Opera and Comodo (same as the new Google Chrome) always selects Windows Media Player. WMP frequently freezes and buffers making watching a real pain. I therefore use VLC Media Player (no browser as it is bookmarked as a favorite) and it works fine for me. Occasional issues, due to other pro grammes running a but nowhere like WMP
Often when watching I wish that I could put the clock back and see the steam locos and passenger cars that once ran through Roanoke. [;)]
[:-^] Quentin; ~~~ at mst. 845am black screen, blurb at bottom says ~~ whipping on system . With all the " buffering " maybe it will be fed a Bufferin asprin . HEH HEH [#oops]
Scroll below the picture and you will see a notice which says that they are having outages due to the high demand for the Cam. They are working on upgrades.
I would also suspect technical problems due to rain and wind.
Yes…It’s messing up big time…Just clicked on it and got a live pic of a general freight moving west…and then in 20 sec. or so, the pic. froze.
And I did scroll down {as another poster mentioned}, and found they are telling us the system is overwhelmed with “customers”, and they are trying to repair and get it up and running again…
Two aspirins, and call it in the morning.[:)]
I guess it`s like all things electronic , there are going to be problems . But we are lucky to have this cam in this location and they usually get the problems resolved quickly. So no more complaining from me . RON
Yes, it’s one of the nicest.
Still down . Must be a major repair or upgrade . RON
down flat right now. nothing but whitescreen.
There is an apology on the Roanoke Hotel’s Rail-Cam (link) page which confirms what the Hotel told me several days ago and relates directly to the information I supplied earlier. There has only been advice that there are server problems affecting the network.
The Hotel Roanoke are to be congratulated for working on the relevant updates which will hopefully reinstate the Rail-Cam to a satisfactory working condition for the benefit of all concerned. [:)]
Cheers,
Heiter.
I’m sure they will have it back up and running in a few days. Have patience.
[:-^] [;)] Do the Cam folk need Tech. Support , or money or both??
Jim
Nothing yet . I am really starting to miss it . RON
Has anybody asked the Hotel Roanoke for an approximate time-scale…??
Cheers,
Heiter
Just e-mailed the hotel . Am waiting for an answer . Will post as soon as I get one . . RON
Hurry! I’m going through withdrawal.[:)]
They must have heard you as it appears to be up and running again :-))
Cheers,
Heiter
Well it was on for a while anyhow and went off about 6.15pm/7.15pm (UK 00.15). I watched here in the UK from about 11pm BST/GMT up to the point when it went off at approximately 00.15. It was only running at 500kbps as opposed to 991kbps a;though the action was smooth and didn’t break-up
