I just bought the kit and installed the light which is unrealistic in it’s flash rate? Is there anyway I can change the circuit I have to represent a rotary beacon as the lighthouses really do.
you know the slow to the high back to slow then off…
I see other circuits are available at like 20 bucks but was trying to figure out if I could make do with what I have…
Thanks
Matt
Matt,
Possibly this article I found with a keyword search at the Index of Magazines:
How to simulate a rotating beacon Model Railroader, July 1978, page 92
( “DECKER, JOHN R.”, ELECTRONICS, LIGHTHOUSE, MR )
I’ll checked my copy, a resistor controls the rate of increase of the light, and another resistor controls the rate of decrease, so I presume you might get the result you want. Don’t know what the current cost of the components would be. You’ll need to request a photocopy of the article from Customer Service at MR or from the NMRA’s Kalmbach Memorial Library:
http://www.nmra.org/library/
unless you can find a copy at your public library or at your local hobby shop.

Different lighthouses use different signal patterns. The on/off flashing pattern is quite common.
