my sets throttle came with a 16 v hookup for accecsories. I an guessing that that means street lights, and things. If that is what that is for, then if i need more power for more things what do I do?? please help

Simple, get another power supply. If you need a LOT of power, get a big 12V DC power supply from radio shack or JC Whitney. But most street lights and building lights shouldn’t overload you anyway. If you do have a big lighting load be sure to use heavy enough wire to conduct to it. Most of the people on here would probably recommend 18 or 20 gauge, but I’d use 14 or 16 if it really is a big load.

thanks for the feedback! So about how much would a power pack run me (tight budget, aren’t we all!)
Flea markets always have a bunch of power packs suitible for accessories for a buck or two. If your needs are really big, use lots.

There’s a very good chance that the 16 volt terminals are alternating current needed to actuate turnout motors.
Hooking DC lights and accessories to AC probably won’t be good for the transformer, the accessories, and may well damage either or both.
Best bet is to plan on picking up another power pack. You’ll get much better performance from your trains, and then you can use the old one for powering accesories, without having to watch your trains hitch and possibly derail everytime you throw a turnout.
