Rustoleum Variable Spray Nozzles

Has anyone used the cans of Rustoleum spray paint that have the variable nozzle on them? They boast heavy, normal, light, vertical and horizontal patterns. Rustoleum has a shade that is very close to one I need for that Cannonball Ale car I mentioned in another post.

As usual, any answers would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello All,

I have not used the variable spray nozzle, so I won’t comment on that.

However, I would recommend using the “bain-marie” method of heating the can before use.

In a tall container, able to hold the spray can, fill it with hot tap water.

Do NOT use boiling water!

Allow the can to heat to the approximate temperature of the hot tap water by removing it from the water, shaking often, and returning it to the water.

This may require several changes of water, depending on where you store your cans of paint.

Heating the can in this manner helps the paint flow more easily, which allows for a finer mist.

Hope this helps.

Let me add that, because the can and contents will chill as you spray, you should periodically return the can to the bain-marie between ‘passes’, and shake well each time you take it out.

Be careful to keep the water droplets from the can from shaking onto the work or getting near the nozzle!
