I just got a athearn BB Dash-9 in ATSF paint today and the horn was red is that a screw up from athearn or what? I need to know, so if the horn color is wrong i can paint it. Thanks for the help.

Here is a Santa Fe Dash-9 and the horn is black.
That might be because of exaust. I think it might be Silver.
I looked at several pictures of the 600 series when they were new and the horns were silver. Later pictures show them to be black with soot, but silver was the correct clean color.
Athearn probably molded them in red for some other model besides this one.
Paint it.
The picture below is when the unit was almost new. You can see the silver horns.
Thanks for the help. This unit has been a handfull since i put it on the tracks! I had to put new new gears in it and now paint issues and the horn wasnt the only thing i have to paint. I have to paint the exaust stack and break wheel, they were both white! This was the first time i went to this hobby shop and i was impressed i also got an atlas BN whiteface C30-7 which was a treat!
