Santa Fe FP-45s

Does anybody know what number series the Santa Fe’s FP-45s were when they were in passenger service in the '60s? The current Athearn models are numbered 5941, but I think that was from when they were renumbered into the freight series of F-45s.

Hello Kenterfored73

The 100 series. I bought #107.

The 1:1 Scale one? Speak up, man. There is a story here

Hello, and [#welcome]

I’ve seen them in the 59xx series and still in passenger service, including the steam generater:

I believe as delivered they were in the 100 series:

And I see them in a 90 series. I don’t know if this was after assignment to freight service.

From the Diesel Shop website there is a notation for the convoluted renumbering scheme:

FP45 Renumbering Schemes

  • ATSF 100 > 5940 > 5990 > 100 > ATSF 90
  • ATSF 101 > 5941 > 5991 > 104 > ATSF 91
  • ATSF 102 > 5942 > 5992 > 101 > ATSF 92
  • ATSF 103 > 5943 > 5991 > 106 > ATSF 93
  • ATSF 104 > 5944 > 5994 > Wrecked
  • ATSF 105 > 5945 > 5995 > 107 > ATSF 95
  • ATSF 106 > 5946 > 5996 > 103 > ATSF 96
  • ATSF 107 > 5947 > 5997 > 105 > ATSF 97
  • ATSF 108 > 5948 > 5998

Here’s my FP45, #107. Still “new-in-the-box” so I haven’t yet installed the fuel tank, radiator grills, and the other details that come inside of the box.

It’s non-sound, but I plan on equipping it with a DCC-Sound setup. Challenging choice is whether to go with LokSound (excellent motor control and mechancial sounds) and TCS Wow (good motor control along withamazing horns). These are just my opinions.

Regardless which system is installed, I will go with the Scale Sound Systems speakers which, when properly installed, sound amazing!
