Scale Sound Systems speaker upgrade

Hi RockCity,

Pretty impressive difference! Thanks for posting the comparison.

I have two Scale Sound System speakers installed in the locomotives for my rotary snow plow train project. I haven’t installed the decoders yet (I had to buy smaller decoders because I used Scale Sound’s second largest square speakers). I look forward to hearing the difference.

Cheers!!

Dave

I’ve been installing JT’s speakers/baffles in my brass locomotives and have been VERY pleased with the sound quality. JT is also very accessible in regards to giving recommendations & suggestions for specific installs.

Here are two 8Ω Boiler Barkers installed (in parallel, for 4Ω impedance) in a NJCB 2-6-6-2 Mallet:

A tight fit but everything - including the weight above - fit inside the shell. I used a Lok5 decoder and the chuff is quite impressive & full - even at low volume. I even had room to add a flickering firebox:

And JT is a somewhat local guy (in Marion) so I’m happy to support another OH business with my hobby $$$.

Put me in the column of satisfied Scale Sound customers, too. Just yesterday I received another package including several ‘Big Boy’ large speakers that fit comfortably in larger tenders.

Here’s a few recent examples:

Manufacturers are notoriously cheap in their application of speakers. JT has made considerable inroads in the improvement of sound with his skills gained as a sound engineer.

Cheers, Ed

My scale sound speaker arrived in the mail today, first one of many more hopefully.
