Scalecoat Wash-Away vs. Proto2000 paint

I have a Proto2000 (pre-Walthers) SP daylight E-8 to strip. Any cautionary notes before I proceed with Wash-Away?

Mike

The old P2K units are generally easy to paint strip. After soaking for a while, gently scrub the body with a medium bristle toothbrush. On the I usually toss the roof rings as they’re very fragile and replace them with metal lift rings.

Here’s a thread I posted a few years ago where I stripped a Proto E7 and RDC.

Thanks-

Good info in that thread. I figured the wash-away would be fine (it worked great on an Athearn SW1500) but is almost never mentioned in the “stripping” threads, and I wanted to be a bit cautious.

I always use 90% (or greater) alcohol. Cheaper than Wash Away, works great on P2K shells. I used wah away one time. Hot water would have worked better.
