Sculptamold in Edmonton

Hello,

Does anybody happen to know if there is a store in Edmonton, Canada that sells Sculptamold or gypsolite? I can find it in the US but after shipping it’s not worth getting. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

Thank-you

For areas where of hard hands-on usage or for roads and river bottoms, I use Hydrocal Plaster. Is that available? Many lumber yards carry it, fairly cheaply, in bulk. Otherwise, it is quite expensive. It is ideal for molded outcrops. Bob Hahn

Welcome to the forums.

My local hardware store ordered a bag of gypsolite for me. 50# reasonable price.

Good luck,

Have you checked any craft or art supply stores in Edmonton? Sculptamold was originally developed as a medium for sculpture projects, and might be found in stores that deal in art supplies. I know that here where I live in California, if the local hobby shop is out of it, I can usually find it at an art supply store.

Hello in Edmonton, and congratulations on the Eskimo win over the BC Lions last night. I hope you saw what our Roughriders did to the Stampeders tonight. Smiling Henry ain’t smiling Good luck against him next week-end.

As for the Gypsolite. I bought it here in Regina through a drywall supply wholesaler called “KENROCK BUILDING MATERIALS CO. LTD.”

See if the same outfit is in Edmonton, and I believe they are, and you find it there. If not try any other Drywall suppliers, they will have a lead for you on it.

Johnboy out…

I have seen it at Alberta Hobby Supply (Yellowhead Trail and 149st) but they didn’t have any when I was there on Wed Nov 4 so try Michaels Arts & Crafts, Home Depot (?),Revelstoke Home Building Supplies,Home Hardware, Hobby Wholesale Calgary trail Northbound and Argyll Road, Roundhouse Hobbies (sorry I don’t remember the address offhand). Hopefully one of these places will have it or drywall supplies that will work.

Happy hunting

Andrew

I asked someone about a supply for dental plaster.

His reply was, “Get friendly with your dentist. See if he is willing to order it for it for you. Best part is, being dental supplies, no GST!”

Micheals usually does not have sculptamold here in Riverside, but they do carry Celuclay that you could mix with plaster or joint compound. It will extend the working life a bit so you could carve and shape.

Trash in trash out if you don’t like the idea.

Try an art supply store, they can order it for you, it’s a little pricey, isn’t Edmonton in Alberta? or is it in Canada?

I found Hydrocal for about $12 for 50#'s but I’m looking for something to texture in hills and rock out croppings. Thanks!

Thanks, there is a Kenroc in Edmonton I will give them a shout on Monday!

Both! Alberta is a province of Canada just north of Montana. So far the magor art stores don’t have a clue what I’m talking about.
