SD-60M Models

I did a quick search on the Walthers site for a SD-60M and turned up nothing for modles. They had one for N scale but I would like one in HO. I also wouldn’t like to get one off of ebay. Any help.

NOTE:SOO Candy Apple red scheam would be nice.

I think ebay is going to be the only place to find an SD60M. Proto 2000 made them several years ago, but I’m not sure what road names were produced other than UP. I managed to gather up 6 different road numbers. Good luck in your search!

Life-Like made them in their P2K line in 2002, but they had a pretty limited production time. Rail Power also made one, but you had to paint it, add details, and put in an Athearn mechanism yourself. You can find either one on eBay.

Another option would be to modify an Athearn RTR SD60 with an M cab, which shouldn’t be too hard since that’s all the SD60M is.[:D]

Do you know where I can get a SD-60M cab? I did a quick search on the walthers site and it too turned up nothing. Keep in mine I have HO scale.

If I could only find Cannon & Co.'s official website I’d post it here. But in the meantime, here’s an article on kitbashing a UP version of the SD60M, just uses a slightly different windshield:

I think Rail Power Products makes an SD60M shell, they were acquired by Athearn - hope their stuff is still available…

I have a couple of the SOO red P2K SD 60Ms and they are pretty nice. They are detailed nicely and will pull anything coupled to them. They do show up on idiotbay from time to time.

I’ve got 2 Proto 2000 Soo SD60’s, one in red and one in white. I see the odd one on Ebay once in awhile as well as train shows. Most vendors want a fortune for them though.

Would it be cheaper to get a Athearn RTR SD-60 model and put a SD-60M cab on it than getting one off of ebay. And does Athearn, Walthers, Atlas or any other company I could easly get to seel a SD-60M cab. Thanks for the site on the SD-60M cab. I don’t know if my LHS could get that cab though. Thanks anyway CSX_road_slug.

Search on the internet for one. They are out there, you just have to put the time in to find them.

OK. I looked on like Like you said and found nothing [#dots] . Keep in mind I don’t want to get one off of Ebay. Maybe I can kitbash a cab. I don’t need it really badly though. Just wanted some quick info.
