The other day I went into a hobby shop and saw Athearn SD70M (Susq. Version) undecorated on sale. I was thinking of painting them in CSX colors but I want to know is there a difference between the locomotives that Susq. operates and CSX locomotives?
Most likely there is little or no visual difference. CSX’s SD70M’s are former EMD Leasing locomotives that were built on the same order as the NYSW engines, so they are probably equipped similarly. SD70M’s are built in lots of 25…EMD Leasing originally ordered 25, but 3 of them ended up as the NYSW locomotives.
the paint…and maybe some options as far as crew amenities…
