SD70ACe, GEVO or ES44DC?

I think that the AC4500CW-CTE (GEVO) unit is better than the SD70ACe. The reason why is because, for starters, the SD70ACe is the loudest thing ever. Well, CSX ones are anyway. Plus, they don’t have as much horsepower as the GEVO. Although, my likings of the GEVO and ES44DC are pretty equal.

Who would you vote for out of the 3 new engines. The SD70ACe, ES44DC or GEVO? Just curious?[?][8]

First. I like the UP ES45AC CTE over the SD70ACe.
Allan.

Well first off, i cant stand GE’s , same cab for about 15 years now, and they are throw aways. Even though the ACe isnt the greatest looking, it will last much longer than the toasters will. I go SD70ACe.

Although they look the same, for some reason, I like the SD70M-2 better than the SD70ACe. But both are better than those ugly ES44ACs and ES44DCs.

And besides, the ES’s only have 100 more HP than the ACe and the M-2 (4400 vs. 4300).

Thata boy Jonathon, 2 for the good guys [8D]

How do you get those trains on the bottom of your forum and where do you get them? Please reply. I need one. I’m a sort of new member.[:I][8]

Go to Frograil.com

Then go to " to the gifs" and search for a railroad. I dont know how to get them on the post tho.

Alec

SD70ACe and SD70M-2 because they are EMD engines and that the GE units are UGLY (as some have already said). At least EMD changed the look of their engines.

First off, LOUD IS GOOD!!! Remember that.
Also, alstom, go to frograil and get a gif, get an account of photobucket, and copy and paste the image url to the bottom of your signature.

Aren’t the GEVO and the ES44DC the same thing? Unless the ES44AC is the official GEVO

Actually, there are three different designs with the GEVO engine: ES40DC (NS only), ES44DC and ES44AC.

EMD has historically been a bit behind the competition when it comes to horsepower ratings except for when the 645 line was first introduced in 1966. I don’t think that the small difference in horsepower will be a factor.

Which model line is better won’t be decided for a while and will be based on price, reliability and ease of maintenance, among other things.

I agree with Max, the louder the better. And thanks to max i now have SD60’s in my sig !

Well, the GEVO is better in every way according to the facts and figures: http://www.railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12371

Plus, it is aestetically pleasing, unlike the SD70UGLe.

G.E.s are made in the U.S.A. Last I heard the E.M.D.s are assembled in Mexico. What are you guys basing your opinions on? They both move freight well. I spend alot of time in both and the G.E.s do have their failures…Who cares! BTW the ES44s A/C and D/C are both GEVOs. The GEVOs are alot smoother running and vibrate less than the dash-9 or the ac4400. Beside the bugs that will get worked out, I like them.
