Seeing miniature train/town set in Los Angeles

Hello!

My name is Rich and I’m wondering if anyone knows of a very nice, working miniature train / town in Los Angeles.

I’m putting together a spec piece for a film. I would like to shoot someone’s train set / model with my video camera for about twenty minutes.

This is a spec project, meaning, I have no money. But I’m just looking to shoot for about twenty minutes - half hour, just me and my camera…no crew, lights, etc.

If anyone knows of such a miniature train set/model in the Los Angeles area, please contact me at Rostella@hotmail.com .

Thank you!

Rich

I’m not a great deal of help to you but there are a couple of places that might meet your needs.

Allied model trains in Culver City on Sepulveda Blvd has some in store layouts in different scales. Just down the PCH in San Diego is one of the best MRR exhibits in the USA at the San Diego MRR museum in Balboa park. If nothing else I am sure that Allied would be able to point you in the right direction.

You might want to send a letter in care of Model Railroader Magazine to Bob Smouse. He has a fabulous 1950s era layout set in Down Town Los Angalas.

Me might be able to help you.

You might try Robert Smaus

Sure, as long as you don’t portray the modeler as some homicidal psychopath

Actually I live in East Hollywood and would volunteer my layout but it’s nowhere near a completed (read: presentable) state…
