Seeking advice on freight motor power truck and trailing truck

Hi All,

I’m an experienced modeller, but brand new to traction. in fact, I have just one La Belle Ohio Electric Freight motor kit. I built it just for the fun of it, but it turned out so well, I want to equip it with appropriate trucks and hopefully a power truck.

I don’t even know any traction folks, so I’m starting from zero here. Anyone got any information to share? I’m looking for a vendor of HO traction parts, I guess. All the vendors listed in the La Belle instructions are long gone.

I did find one page with some photos of Ohio electric freight motors:

and a vendor of traction parts in O (I’m in HO).

For power trucks and drives, you can try Hollywood Foundry

(Link removed as it didn’t work)

or North West Short Line

(Link removed as it didn’t work)

Gandydancer19,

Thanks!

I also discovered that Bowser bought the Pennsy Scale Models line back in the late 60’s. Bowser sells a power truck and some sideframes.

Hi Gandy,

Just a note, neither of your links work. I tried them several times.

Ed took care of it, I think. Here’s a direct link to the BullAnt lone:

{FYI, something’s different with cutting and pasting on the Forum with Firefox today, so something’s changed, YMMV}

The BullAnt comes highly recommended. I’m planning a HOn3 railcar using one for the drive, doubt it needs two powered trucks from what I hear. [;)]

Here’s a couple of traction sites you might want to check out:

http://www.customtraxx.com/

http://www.eastpenn.org/

Customtraxx is on the West Coast, East Penn in the east.

Customtraxx has parts, etc. and East Penn is more geared toward modelers and has links to a number of manufacturers and other modeling info as well as links to prototype info.
