I don’t see either of mine in there, so maybe one is actually unique… I did find one elsewhere, but only after starting to paint the locomotive. (And I already had a few decals for MOW railcars…)

The othere I’ve never found elsewhere yet…

Atlantic central did exist for a short time.

That happens. I actually painted that ATLANTIC CENTRAL car before I joined this forum and found out about Sheldon’s model railroad.

I found out this was a real railroad too.

So I sent it out and allowed the Imperial Guard to use it for target practice.

All in great fun, but I hope not too many “non-foobies” have found their way in.

-Kevin

I’ve produced a few.

Strumpet Beer and Ale

Saltzburg Salt, because I needed salt for my tannery and got a Bowswer hopper undecorated, and then needed to brand it.

I have an old gondola from my original HO train set. It came with plastic cannisters of some sort. I labeled them Caution! Upsidaisium! Weightless when fully loaded. It’s the anti-gravity mineral from old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons.

Nothing wrong with a few real ones. They make the nonsense ones appear real. [yeah]

Also the Ohio Southern, while Jim Hediger’s model railroad name it was the portion of the DT&I from Springfield to Ironton that operated as the Ohio Southern from 1891 to 1898.

There’s a lot I recognize.

How about South Hampton Ipswich & Tyrone. I won’t give you the reporting marks. But I bet you could guess.

I need to do some hoppers for my South Shore Aggregates. Some old GLA and H21 would be great.

Pete.

As a going away gift when I was at my last club meeting before away going to college, a member who had been modeling since he was a teen in Thirties gave me an ancient Athearn metal car circa 1950 lettered for his pike, the Great Northwestern. Only thing I’ve done to it is substitute Kadees for X2f’s.

I’ve been watching this thread since last night and I still have no clue what it’s about. Can someone explain?

-Matt

Gidday Matt, Kevin will not doubt give you the proper explanation, but if you read his “Signature”, I believe it goes some way to explaining his list.

Not on Kevin’s list but 2 of my foobies.
My own small class one, the LACHLAN RIVER RAILROAD. The reporting mark, LRA.

It’s a takeoff on Seinfeld, a thread about nothing. [(-D]

Then realising the ‘foobies’ could be real.

About 50% of my freight vehicles are of real companies.

Only one in this picture is a real company.

Matt,

I have taken “freelancing” as far as I can. Not only is the STRATTON AND GILLETTE freelanced, but EVERY car in my fleet is freelanced. There is nothing on my layout that is real.

I don’t even claim that the SGRR is in the United States. On my “Dream House” layout I actually made a new land mass West of Vancouver Island where the SGRR ran!

So, the “Roll Call” is a list of all the roadnames that I have painted and decorated onto freight cars to use on my layout.

The SGRR will interchange with two railroads on my layout. One will be the DAWDLE AND DELAY, the other is yet to be determined.

A forum member asked on another thread how many made-up raodnames I had. I started a new thread with the answer because I did not want to pull the other thread further off topic.

-Kevin

I trust there is a backstory for those ‘phenyl esters’ along the lines of GERN. If not, there needs to be…

… and surely there’s a tank labeled for methyl ethyl awful in that fleet … or perhaps the phenyl ethyl awful used in production of the, ah, esters.

I always wondered what they called the ore for upsidaisium. Like the way quap was the ore for carolinum…

I grew up in Gainesville, Florida, which was previously named Hogtown before the University Of Florida was built, and they decided to change the name of the city. I had the large “HPE” lettering from a military model, and i did a Google search for liquids intitialed “PE”, and that is what I found.

That is the whole story.

-Kevin

The Abilene & Southern ran south from my old stomping grounds; here is a link to some history:

Darn!

[banghead]

I guess I will have to send another freight car off to be destroyed.

This one was even built from a nice Funaro And Camerlengo kit.

Oh wait…

This one is ABILENE SOUTHERN, not ABILENE AND SOUTHERN.

Have I found a loophole, can I keep this model?

-Kevin

Kevin) Suprised to see there wasnt an “Undecorated” or “Unlettered” Railway in there with the RepMarks “UND” or “UNL” respectively. I have to admit your freelancing by name is certainly unique.

Heres another you can add since no one can pronounce it (correctly) anyways - Pierre Market. Pure fantasy there, and the decals wouldnt be too hard to find [(-D].

Another thread you could start would be naming your second connecting railroad. Dawdle and Delay being the first, what could be the other?

A few suggestions:

Fizzypop & Belchers Railway -FAB

Echo Mountain & Burning Bush Railway - EMBB

Orville, Gallactica, Rocinonte & Enterprise Railroad - OGRE

Darby, Arron & North Gordon Railway - DANG

Orange Orangatang & Phoebe Snow Railway - OOPS

Huron, Union & Howardsville Railway - HUH

West Haggis & Tumult Railway - WHAT

West Umberton, Philo & Temple Railway - WUPT

Union, Harris, Ontario & Henderson Railroad - UHOH

Minniville, Ingot, & North Evans Railroad - MINE

I can see where one can get carried away by this thread. Let us know if you decide on the 2nd.

Have fun!

Douglas

That’s a very good looking car.
