I have been working for about 3 years to improve and update my own layout’s rulebook and timetable. Drawing from a number of different sources and adapting them to my layout and goals, I have at present a 15 page rulebook/timetable which includes information about layout standards, history (prototype and layout), timetable, “job” descriptions, and op’s rules concerning radio use and protocall, safety procedures (inspections, warning detectors, authorization, track warrants, etc.), speed restrictions, handling of hazardous materials, trackage rights, RIP procedures, documentation, and general layout op’s instructions.
I am always looking for ways to improve my rulebook, so please share your op’s rules and ideas. I will gladly email a Word Perfect copy of mine to anyone who requests it–just drop me an email through this forum. Please share your ideas also so we can learn together.
