Shay in the creek

Does anyone remember seeing a picture (a photo and a painting) of a logging railroad, I think in Pennsylvania, that ran through a creek? The picture(s) showed a Shay going through with water up at least to the railhead. I saw them on the 'Net a few years ago, but now can’t find them.

I know I’ve got that book. I’ll dig it up today and reply later.

Yeah, I’ve seen the photo. A shay is going right over this bed of water that completely covers the track. I’d show you the photo, but I haven’t a scanner. It’s in a book I have called “Steam Locomotives”.

Shays running in a creek are shown on a VHS tape called “Shays, Lumbering and More” by JMJ productions produced in 1990. The address is PO Box 3349 Hollywood, Florida 33083. Maybe some dealers have a copy or try E-bay.

I have a book called “West Virginia Logging Railroads.” The book is by William E. Warden and the cover is a painting by Richard Sparks showing Elk River Coal and Lumber #19 crossing the Lilly Fork. The shay is about axle deep in the river on the engineer’s side. There are photos in the book of shays and climaxes crossing that same stream.
Go to www.half.com and type in West Virginia Logging Railroads. Its a website that re-sells books and this book is listed.
