Shell HO Oil Tank with horn wiring

Can someone help me by taking a pic or describing the wiring for the tank? I have two: one with only the button wired; and the other with nothing wired. I am not able to see how I should wire. Thank you.

am i missing something?? why would an oil tank honk??

It has (or is supposed to) diesel sound effects.

Is this what you mean?

If so I can not tell you the wiring but it must be simple. I had one of those back in 1985 ( never took it apart to see the wiring ) and if the newer ones are the same horn then it is a very lousy sound. But thats my opinion.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums.

Used to have one, died a tragic death, so don’t have it to refer to.

Should have two wires in to the button and two out. On mine the two in had spade connectors, they attach to the AC terminals on your power pack. (If yours doesn’t have the spade connectors, it shouldn’t make a difference as it is AC and only completes the circuit.) On the speaker in the tank you should be able to see where two wires had been soldered on, that is where to attach the two wires comong from the button. Attach the button to the power and touch the other ends of the wires to the points on the speaker. Push the button and you should be able to tell if you have the right points of contact.

Good luck,

Richard

Mine Exploded and I am currently sueing BP/SHELL! Made a big mess. Sorry I could not help.

Just like wiring a bulb, just break the circuit (one wire) with a switch, preferably a momentary push button.
