Shinohara double-crossover

Hi Guys;

I just received a Shinohara double crossover I purchased for my layout and promptly sat down at the workbench with it, and a VOM to test it for possible shorting and found nothing to be too concerned with. Itt is code 70 and will be mating with like track, diverging to two yards. Has anyone had any experiences with this product, and if there are things to watch,I’d appreciate some feedback.

Thanks in advance

Rich.

My code 83 has been flawless for years. I did get a 4-4-0 last January and it runs through all but one frog. You may want to wire the frogs if your running shorties.

The Shinohara Code 70 double crossover is produced in both HO scale and N scale. Which do you have?

Shinohara manufactures both the Code 70 double crossover (HO and N) and the Code 100 double crossover (HO scale only).

The Code 83 double crossover is manufactured by Shinohara for Walthers, thus it is referred to as the Walthers Shinohara Code 83 double crossover (HO scale only). The Walthers Shinohara double crossover also is produced in Code 70 (HO and N) and Code 100 (HO scale only).

So, there is quite a variety out there, and I cannot say if they are all manufactured in the same way.

I have several Walthers Shinohara Code 83 double crossovers. Generally, they are good quality, but I do have one that is troublesome because the copper jumpers on the underneath side of the track come lose on occasion causing a loss of power on the divergent tracks.

Hey, I was told that Shinohara didn’t produce N scale track any more and asked walthers if they were going to market it in the future. The reply was that they were looking at the possibility. I say this because I have torn down my twenty five year old layout that was all Shinohara (wonderfull track) and am building a new one and getting to the point of ordering new track. Sooo, Shinohara N Scale? True or wishfull thinking? Doug

Check it out. The future is now.

Rich;

It is HO scale. I can just picture this rig in “N” scale, using, perhaps, code 55. That must be really something! My one concern was, of course, transconductance and maybe shorting. The rest of ot seems to gauge out OK.
