Shooting the Photographer?

How often do you guys have this happen to you? Having been around quite a few crews, I’ve become the victim, er, I mean, “subject” on several different occasions. Knowing how many railroaders like to have a little fun from time to time, I’m curious how often you people get this.

Seems to be happening more and more (although the first time I got photographed was by a Conrail conductor in 1976).

I like when a crew’s willing to have some fun with us fans (even the ones who do it to mock). It’s better than the scorn you get from some crews (what’s the point of that?).

I have a good friend who is an engineer on a Short Line and is also an excellent and avid railfan photographer. Of his photos, I have seen many that he has shot of track side photographers that were shooting his train.

One of the guys on my forum regularly gets shots of those of us who are photographing his train! Hey, fair’s fair… [swg]

yep some crews have taken our pictures too with camera phones.dont mind a bit.

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like that.

I have had my picture taken more on this job then at any other point in my life. Its all good i wave smile or take a pic back  I dont get it as much anymore as I work strictly nights.

Everyone needs a hobby so why complain? As long as your not posting them online if I am not wearing my safety glasses and your crying about it ( trainmaster wannabes) or badmouthing the crew I dont care what you take a picture of.

Also I can see why some are taking pics of old power. I had a SD-9 in a consist that was just getting the snot snapped out of it. Oh and I would love to have run it in the lead instead of behind the trash 9. Isolated the TRAH unit and let the old 9 do all the work. All I can say is WHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

See ya out there.

During my cab ride (which I paid for - so it was legal) on the Adirondack a couple of years ago, I snapped a number of pictures of railfans taking pictures of the ALCo I was riding in… I found it rather amusing.

Ya got that right![:D] I think I have 8-10 phototogs from the train.

Once. I had my video camera stuck in my face, so he didn’t get much much of a look. We waved at each other.
