I just purchaseda ton of SHS/MTH S Gauge at a train meet. How do I supply power to the track as I cant find any terminal track for it? Also what is the best way to fasten the track to the layout? And what is the best way to custom cut the track? I cant seem to find any info on doing that.
You need, I beleive, the 35-1017 RailJoiner feeder wire.
If it is the same as the original SHS system, they slide over tabs on the underside of the track.
I just went to the MTH web site. I didnt see this item. Any idea where I can l can look for it?
Thank you!
I beleive it is the same track setup as S-Helper’s track – you might search for the S-Helper power cord. But check the underside of the track to make certain it has the flat sections to slide onto.
I checked an old SHS catalog and it is the no. 00255 Railjoiner feeder wire.
I have a number of the feeder wires. They are really not worth ordering because the tabs under the rail are prone to break off when sliding the connectors on and off. Plus the wire is a light gauge. I just wrap a feeder wire around the tab and solder it. To make a shorter section of track slide the rails out, cut the extra amount out of the center of the roadbed, use a bit of glue to to hold the two remaining end pieces together, slide the rails back into the roadbed and trim the excess length from the ends of the rails.
