Slate - factory in Warsaw, IN along old Pennsy mainline

New barebones electric pickup/SUV priced 25k to low 30k. Nice to see a vehicle that’s back to simple.

When the Maverick was introduced, it had a starting price of $19,995 for the base hybrid model. Now I think cheapest you can get (non-hybrid) is around $28.

Once you cross $25, I want power windows. C’mon now. I remember test driving a base tacoma about 15 years ago (2.7L manual, crank windows). MSRP of 23. Today? Oof.

How are they marketed? Online sales?

When they first started taking deposits, it was $50. They had well over 100K their first 2 weeks.

Now deposits are $300. Maybe it’ll provide the kick in the pants the other carmakers need to make more affordable trucks/cars/evs whatever.

I actually prefer hand-crank windows over electric ones. Same with locks. Power mirrors I like, though.
