What do you mean it’s not real? I built a complete layout using 5-digit control almost sixty years ago. Scale was 1:192, about half way between N and Z. The layout table was an old drawing board, rolling stock was made from bits of balsa and card stock and the couplers were bent pins.
A couple of years later I upgraded to HO scale, DC power, and never looked back.
