Small Worlds Tokyo opened

It is a miniature theme park of HO scale and has six areas: “Space Center”, “City of the World”, “Kansai International Airport”, “Sailor Moon”, “Evangelion Hangard”, and “Evangelion 3rd New Tokyo City”. Do you know what happened to Gulliver’s Gate in New York Manhattan after it closed?

I did get to see Gulliver’s Gate when it was open. After they closed, they did put up some robo-answer stuff that said they were reopening. I am supposedly on their mailing list, but they never send anything. The Tokyo exhibit does not seem to have any components scavenged from Gulliver’s Gate.

When I visited, I was mystified by the HO scale railroads with appropriate engines and rolling stock from each world region, but there were a number of Rio Grande and Canadian National boxcars scattered around the world. I made a point of asking why, and was introduced to the “train guy.”. I ended up with a long private tour, just because he was happy to have a model railroader to talk to. It turns out those boxcars were actually Walthers track cleaning cars, which they used constantly but hadn’t gotten to repainting yet.

The attraction got high rankings, but I thought it was generally a bit overpriced.

Yeah no kidding. $100 to have yourself 3d scanned, printed, and placed on the layout!!![+o(]
