Does anyone know if it’s possible to put a MTH or Lionel fan driven smoke unit into structures or in other places on a layout?
It is.
But you may not want the fan working too hard for stationary applications.
yes you can, works well for industrial chimneys, but I like the non fan type for building fires, house chimneys etc
What type of smoke unit is not fan driven? I can only think of the piston driven smoke units in which you would need something to drive the piston.
A Seuthe smoke unit has no moving parts. Also, Lionel & MTH etc. caboose smoke units are not fan driven.
K-Line also had non driven fan smoke units in there buildings.

Hey LAZ. I have a K-line sawmill and it smokes nice, I never thought it had a fan but when I looked in it it looks like a lionel fan driven smoke unit because it has the fan motor but it does not spin Is it broken like my K-line Plymouth switcher Bob is working on???
Tks,
Kev
KEV,
Thanks for info. I had the farm house and only had a smoke burner with no fan in it. Worked ok til it didn’t.

Does anyone have an idea of what the best fan driven smoke unit is to use for these applications.
Kevin
Kevin,
You could try a K-line 610-8989-200 for a Plymouth Switcher from Brasseur Trains $32.00
Or a Lionel 610-8057-200 that looks to be the same as in my sawmill.
