I Just want to know What type of smoke fluid you like to use. Mine is Magic Smoke. I will post a pictures of my LGB Mogul Smoking when I learn how to.
If you know of a different brand let me know I will add it.

Never touch the stuff!
Bob
I voted other because i use anything that is available (smokefluidwise). So far i’ve used Lionel, Bachmann, and LGB
Scott
I don’t use it much in the asylum, but I have a bottle of USAT and a bottle of CREST. I try to use nothing but CREST in my Aristo Pacific, which doesn’t get run much 'cause it’s too big for asylum curves[:D]
Cigars.
Looks better and smells better.
Other than that, I generally cut the units out and throw them in a drawer.

Waste of time. They only make them so they’ll burn out & you buy another one etc etc
Cheers,

I said other. I don’t really think the units smoke enough to be worth while, if smoke is a necessity go Live Steam [:D] Although a smoke unit might smoke enough to be used in a caboose or passenger car to simulate a stove, that might be kinda cool, but maybe not worth the effort.
i use lamp oil in mine then crest to clean up the wick every third bottle full.
I added “Crest” to the pole.
I will show you some Pics if some one tells me how to post a pic.
It may look good, thats when we get a still day, which windy Wellington Nz is not known for.
For those that do use smoke fluid, if you want the real good stuff visit your local Fire Station. Get the stuff they use in the smoke generators for breathing set practice.
Tony
Previous advice was to use www.shutterfly.com for your pics. I tried it and it works. Best of all it`s free.
Gentlemen
i would love to have decent smoke fluid but I only use LGB as I have been given to understand that if you use anything else you may void your smoke generators warranty.
However not only am i dissatisfied with LGB smoke fluid but also I am unhappy with their smoke generators and i have two both of which have died at an early age.
What is the best smoke fluid and does anyone have any idea of where i can get it in this country.
Rgds ian
I was doing some electrical work at a fire training centre today and remembered what Tony mentioned.Got a gallon of the good stuff.Tried it tonight in the only smoke generator I have left.
Wow
Works like a dream. It’s slightly thicker than the LGB stuff.(which I’ve never really had that much success with)
I’ll have a look at the container it come out of tomorrow to see what it’s called,or made of.

I Mix LGB with Magic Smoke. Resaults Very Very good. Even the Guy at RR Station was impressed.
As for ordering you can get it from San Val Trains. Just $4.99[^]
I just too recently tried fog machine liquid (smoke generator machine) in one of my Aristo’s, so far so good, how long will the smoke gererator in the engine last, well thats anybodys question, since the product is not their own, but the volume of smoke is alot denser, and considering $5.00 CAD for a small little bottle of Crest fluid as to $20.00 CAD for a GALLON of smoke machine fluid; I think I’m on to something!!! The reason I’ve tried this method is I own a smoke machine, and to me the principle is the same, smoke oil be forced into a hot element by a blower, and I too am a firefighter and have been through the smoke filled room drills!!!
I voted LGB but thats because I use it as track cleaner. I dont use smoke being indoors I would smog out the garage in no time!
I like JT Mega-Steam… It works great in my “O” gauge engines
click on the pic to enlarge it.
and it comes in 20 different scents [8D]
tom
Hope you don’t have any smoke detectors indoors Tom.
Looks very effective !
Troy
I use JT magic steam because of Tom’s pictures. Only have O steam, but hoping for cab forward if reasonable price.
Chompers, did you ever get the ability to post pictures ? I would like to see some of your smoke. [:)]
