So how did you find out about Trains.com ?...

I personally was surfing the web one night looking for train pictures and layout ideas when I came across the forum. At first, I just read topics, but then one day I had something I wanted to say and applied for membership and the rest is history.
I’m grateful to the folks that created the forum, and for all of the great members that I share a common interest with.
I’d much rather be on here chatting with you guys and learning something new about the worlds greatest hobby than sitting in front of the TV every night like I’d done for all those years before…

God bless you guys.

Tracklayer

I found it by reading Model Railroader so I stopped in one day and signed up.

This is one of my first stops on the information super highway each day.

i had just moved back to Wis. with my son about 4yrs ago, we stopped by my dads and he was online at THIS website. thats how i found out about it.[;)] [:D]

I can’t remember, but I believe that it must have been an advert in MR. It has been really intense since them, can’t seem to get enough of it.

Help meeeeeee…

I went on-line to see about a subscription price in New Zealand, found the forum button thought I’d have a quick look…it’s been a year and I can’t stop!! Love the place.

Ken.

I’m in the same boat or should I say on the same train as selector[(-D][(-D] I think I found it by surfing for train stuff and stumbled on to it and fell in it’s deadly trap!!

The address is on the cover.

It was one lonely day and I was lookin for train pic’s on the web using a search engine just like track layer. Don’t worry selector, that’s a “good” addiction. dd

Stumbled across it when surfing the web.

I was looking for model railroad sites one day and found it through the Model Railroader website.

Bought the magazine for years, did some building, then one day it hit me. “They have ads in that magazine! Maybe I should check some of them out!”

Now I’m doomed to a life of ever increasing knowledge about all things on rails.

No, really, you guy’s are all great! I’ve learned a tremendous amount from all of you!

Thanks!

at the end of one of the MR mags(I think Jan 2004), there was a mention of wanting posts on the location of the MR 70th anniversary car. Well, it happened to be in Reedsburg, so I went on, signed up, and posted about it. After I was done I decided that I’d see what else the forum offered. And here I am a year and 3/4s later with almost 2000 posts!

I first found out about it when I was in elementary school. I was new to the Internet, and being a train lover then as well, I just typed in “trains.com” and found this site. But I didn’t know about forums back then. So, about two years ago, I was looking through a Model Railroader, and revisited the site, and found the forums.[:D]

through good ole model railroader magazine

I caught the dog web surfing this site, since he’s under 13, I had to sign up for him, ever since then, I do all the posting for him, he has trouble typing and posting pictures

Through MR website

I found it by getting back into model railroading after a 5 to 6 year break. Coming back to the hobby I of course had to return to magazine, being among the internet surfers of today any hobby I follow will eventualy leads me to the web. My first subscription was well over 20 years ago for the Mag.

[wow] I can’t recall! Seems to me that I was browsing around the net, looking for information on a specific subject - came up with a URL that led me to some information and another URL that ultimately got to Trains.com. Hmmmmmm - [yeah] that’s kinda how it began for me.

I Posted about a dozen or so times back in Feb 2004 - then stayed away for about a year. Got hooked and that’s that! [tup]

I love trains. One day I typed trains.com and ended up at the website. To this day, at least two years later, I still come to this website.[:o)][8D]

I found Trains.com through the NMRA’s Directory of World Wide Rail sites. Then I signed up for the Model Railroader and Garden Railways newsletters, and the forums appeared just like magic!!

I’ll need a 12-step program to get away from them!!
