Oh my–that show was Sunday evening entertainment for years when I was a kid. What a great-looking kit!
I’ve occasionally toyed with the idea of modelling a fictitious railway that would have run from Squamish through Gibsons (where the prototype of that restaurant is located) to Powell River–using lots of bridges, tunnels, and ferries, of course! I believe someone in that part of the world has actually done it.
That’s generic enough I could repurpose it, and have something a little different than the same old kits found on umpteen layouts. But then some Canadian would visit my layout and berate me (in the most polite way possible) for ruining Molly’s Reach. [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D]
(all in good fun, my friends. I’m sure most of you are pointing and laughing about what’s going on down here the past couple of weeks)

I got the kit today. The instructions are very detailed, even down to what to paint and when. The laser cut pieces are very clean. There is extensive internal bracing. Overall, the kit looks to be very well done.
I plan on modelling an interior as well as a patio dining area out front.
The kit will sit for a while because I want to get my track down and the layout running before I start spending time on the structures.

It is a good looking building, and not priced badly.

Rarely, but this building does appeal to me very strongly.
It is a little large. I do not think I will have 6 by 6 available by the lighthouse. I might end up scratchbuilding a smaller, but similar, sttructure.

Preiser’s tables and chairs set #17201 would be ideal for detailing the interior and the patio. Unfortunately it is backordered just about everywhere.
You will also need an iron fence for the patio. Atlas’s ‘Hair Pin’ fence would be perfect:

I use to take the ferry from West Vancouver to Gibsons and back most weekends going to my friends place up the coast. Bruno Gerussi would commute back and forth as he lived in West Vancouver. I got to spend a lot of time chatting with him out on deck on the ferry. Most people stayed in their cars as it was only a forty-minute trip. We both agreed that the scenery was incredible and wondered how anyone could just stay below.
The Persephone now sits next to the Reach.

The Persephone is very similar to the old Athearn yachts. It would be an easy kitbash.
There will be a water scene right next to Molly’s Reach. I had originally envisaged it as a beach scene but it could also be done as part of a harbour. Something to think about.

Dave, I think that boat would be a good starting point, it looks to be about the right length. Shorten and raise the superstructure and it will be a good stand-in.[Y]
