SOPRANOS and TOY TRAINS!

HI GIZ,
Just got done watching the SOPRANOS on HBO. They had two parts of toy trains, the first showing TONY S. brother in law running a LIONEL 0-8-0 Boston and Albany switcher with TMCC. The Bro-in law had a hat on and all. He was in the garage and had a decent size layout with all the trimmings. Hope they show more of the layout in weeks to come.
You got to love it GIZ, our hobby on one of the top rated shows, this is GREAT for us.

Hey Laz,
I mentioned this in the coffee pot, about some information on the layout. I know that Doug sent me some pictures of it being put together and some of the production work and cast. I know it was a great experience for them. If you want, I can send you some of what Doug sent me.
Dennis

DENNIS yes that would be great then I will try and figure out how to put them on this thread?

Loved the layout. Had a Hellgate bridge. The episode was full of product placement. Cingular phones, Lionel trains, and Nesquick (camera focused on one of the milk cars). Good to see Lionel in such a prominant show. I wi***hey didn’t make the guy look like such a weeney though. And what was he doing, pouring smoke fluid on the layout? Cleaning track? Glueing something down? I couldn’t tell what that bottle was. Lousy episode after being away for 2 years. If it weren’t for Meadow’s little dance number for Finn, I’d have given it a thumbs down.

VH1 did a show recently called I Love Toys. Lionel trains were number 26 all time. Everyone had fond memories of them, but almost everyone made fun of guys with layouts in their basements. On tv, if you like toy trains, you are considered a dork.

the “trainstation” www.train-station.com in New Jersey put out an email to those who bid at their auctions a couple days before the show. It has about 8 pictures you can link to in order to view a pretty nice laylout they built…

i have the link…hope it works http://www.train-station.com/cgi-local/auction.cgi?action=newbid&item=1000

what to do with the link now is still a mystery to me.

CHEECH,
Cool pics thanks for sharing.
About time the hobbie gets some air time.

JIM, the I guess I am a BIG DORK.

Me too, LAZ!

Details spotted on the Soprano’s layout:…

NS logos with the horses head decapitated.

Sleeping With The Fishes Concrete Shoe Co.

6-99999 exploding lasagna car.

#45X automated whacked gateman ( comes out of his shack and falls down)

20-3999 automatic body dumping car ( used in conjunction with Hellgate bridge)

St. Valentines Day figures ( lined up against a wall)

Scenic plot set of 6 witness protection houses.

Badda Bing Home for Wayward Girls ( with real smoking girls)

Bruce Webster

If youz guyz have Comcast cable, you can on-demand the episode from last night and rewatch the train segments (and Meadow’s naughty dance [;)][:P]).

Jim

Laz,
I got a message from Doug and he says they hope to have the trains in future episodes, but the way the movie business goes, they see how it plays with the audience. Perhaps if we could give them (the Sopranos show people/HBO) some good words, maybe we will see some more of it.
As for pictures etc, if you go to the main page, they put up a direct link to the photos and information. www.TheTrain-Station.com.
Dennis

Just finished watching it…pretty nice scene.

Janice is gonna be sleepin’ wit’ da fishes if she threatens ta throw the trains out again…

Width a pair of cement boots.

That would be fine by me! I can’t stand that character.

Jim

Any offers you can’t refuse???

Assuming that T survives his gunshot from Junior, he should have plenty of time to visit and play with trains.

Did I read the Trainstation website correctly that they are going to auction the layout?

Poppyl

It would be nice if they put anther signal on the rightside of the layout. Just my thoughts

I’m an S guy, and I especially enjoyed Meadow’s dancing abilities…I thought they trains
were okay too…hey, a reality check…any national high exposure to interest another
generation in this hobby we love so dearly!

This is great, maybe this will help attract more modelers.

Maybe CTT will do a story on the Soprano’s layout?
