Has anyone put a sound system in an Athearm 2-8-2? There appears to be plenty of room but that tether that connects to the engine appears to me to be a concern with the usually bigger decoders that sound requires. The current decoder just flops around inside the tender. Where in the tender did you put the speaker? With as quiet and smooth as these are, they ought to sound really great. - Nevin
I installed a soundtraxx decoder in my Athearn 2-8-2. It is pretty straight forward. I purchased the LC decoder so I had to wire a plug to the decoder and plugged it in to the harness. Look at this link http://soundtraxx.com/docs/athearn_mikado.pdf It should answer your questions. Dave
