Source for Xmas village peripherals for Polars Express set ?

Hello all

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend to me a source for or brand of manufacturer for peripheral items I could use to make a Christmas village area for my Polar Express set, preferably one that has lights.

I have done some searching on Google for Christmas villages but all I’ve found so far is either really high end stuff (expensive), or stuff that’s really kinda cartoony and not really in scale with the train.

What I’m looking for is something more along the lines of a more normal reproduction type stuff but hopefully not along the lines of say the 40 or 50 dollar a piece buildings such as what Lionel or the other train manufactures may have.

This is only going to be setup for Xmas so it’s really not worth it to spend that kind of money.

So if anyone has any other sources I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Both Department 56 and Lemax have Santa/North Pole theme village lines. Check out the ehobbytools.com website (Laster Hobby Supplies) .

Search for keywords “Santa’s Wonderland” or “North Pole” and the ultra-Christmasy items are shown.

At department56.com, search for the villages page. The most Santaesque Dept 56 line is their North Pole series. Stating the obvious, the Lemax buildings will be a bit less expensive than the Dept 56.

Just to add:

Garden Ridge here has been posting 50% Lemax items and Michael’s has been sending me 40% off and an additional 15% off everything (even sale items). This seems to be the year to get anything Lemax has. On top of that, Wal-Mart have been selling individual trees for $1 and even if they look fake, I’ve been able to make them look a little better (some flocking, etc). Even the bag of trees without snow are a great deal for less than $10 (Lemax @ Garden Ridge).

Thanks for the help guys but yeah that Lemax or Dept56 stuff is kind the stuff I was talking about when I said the stuff I found was kinda cartoony. Plus even at those sale prices I think I would quickly get up into the couple of hundreds of dollar areas if I wanted to create a whole village.

Its nice for what its made for but I was kinda looking for stuff that was more along the lines of the reproduction of a what things really look like, more like what I would normally get that is used for model railroad applications, but that was meant for or designed for Xmas decoration purposes and not in the hobbyist or collectibles area or price range.

Just for the sake of asking, are there any websites or online vendors that are dedicated to or more specialized in, the scenery stuff for model trains?
