Can anyone tell me what color Southern Pacific wood and steel water tanks were painted in the 50-60s era?

George,
I just saw two of them along the SP line between Tucson and Phoenix. I think it is the Sunset Line. They are the huge (100,000 gallon?) steel tank on the rivited truss-type legs. There are two of them still standing in Gila Bend and in Maricopa. I can tell they havent been painted in along time, maybe 20 or 30 yerars ago. Judgeing by the weathering and conidtion.
There is also another one along I-10 on the between Tucson and Phoenix that is painted white, or was. It is much smaller than the other two steel ones. I havent been up close to this one, but my guess is that it is steel as well The big ones looked like they were painted a black or a very, very dark brown color. (My guess would be black). Top to bottom. Hope that helps.
