Spare parts source?

I’m new to model railroading and have been given a large amount of N-Scale equipment. Most of it is either Bachmann or Life Like however a few of the passenger cars are missing couplers and 2 or 3 are missing trucks as well. Where can I purchase couplers and trucks the couplers are of the rapido type. Please don’t suggest changing the couplers to a different type as I couldn’t afford to do this. There are over 100 locomotives and 600 items of rolling stock

You might try Atlas…

Good luck and welcome to both the hobby and the forums. Here’s a little write up I pass along to all new members. Read and take it for whatever you think it’s worth… [8D]

EDIT: Scratch that… Send me an email by hitting the email link below my sig. I have a whole bunch of them you can HAVE for shipping…

Do you mean to tell me that someone gave you 100 locomotives and 600 pieces of rolling stock??(That is a rhetorical question - you needn’t respond with an answer.) Depending on the exact nature of the Bachmann and Life-Like equipment you received this could be a mixed blessing. Like rolleiman send me a (personal) e-mail with your address and I’ll be on my way within 24 hours; I don’t have anything to give you but I sure would like you to touch my checkbook; sounds like you could sure help me get rid of all that red ink therein.

Try Walthers.com. They carry repair parts and maybe some rebuild kits.

This doesn’t directly help your current problem but most model railroaders become packrats for a good reason. You’ll never know when a leftover part could come in handy.
Often structure kits contain extra parts that aren’t needed or a modeler will kitbash several structures resulting in surplus parts. Rolling stock that no longer has a place on the layout might also prove to be a valuable source of spare parts someday. SAVE EVERYTHING. Put them away in a drawer and you will be amazed out how often you will find just what you need in your “junk” drawer.

Yes GAVE is correct. The reason I wanted to fix up tose particular ones are they are part of passenger car sets. I may well just take some pieces off of some of the less desirable items and use those. Looking at them they mostly seem to be identical parts. Thanks for all the advice though guys.

Ebay sometimes has “junk” lots…that might contain some of the parts you’re looking for. If not, well, you can always get a lot, then repost what you don’t need back on Ebay.
