I have always wanted a 773 but just don’t have the budget for the original 1950 model. I k

I had to pay the full catalog price for my 1950–$50!

Stay away from the 783 even after tweeking it is not a good performer.

Each one after that got better.

When I first got into Toy Trains a hobby shop had a poster for the coming 783 I believe for $560 or around there, I said to myself I’ll never pay that much for a engine. This was back in the days when popular trains went up. A few years later I paid $750 for mine and that was a good deal at the time.
