I’ve always heard of making a stain with a few drops of india ink in isopropyl alcohol, but Steve mentioned his is made with black acrylic paint int he alcohol. It sure looks liek it is effective, but has anyone else tried this? I have a few buildings I’d liek to work on but don;t happen to have any india ink, but I DO have plenty of plain black acrylic paint, I’ve been using it to seal the isinde walls of plastic structures so if I end up puting lights inside, they won;t show through the walls - and it’s a lot cheaper than any hobby paints. So i have on hand what I need to make Steve’s version of the basic stain. Seems buying a whole jar of india ink just to use a few drops is a bit of a waste - dunno what else I’d use it for, I don;t write with fountain pens, and at a few drops per pint, one bottle of ink should make more weathering wash than I’d need in 10 lifetimes.
Just the cheap PA Dutchman in me, since I already have the materials, just this is the first time I’ve seen this, everyone else seems to use ink.
