That would be interesting seeing all ACE equipment on one train
There are no plans for post season trips. I wonder why. Any ideas?
Jeffery makes one good point. Why do the fans get a nearly half price deal? Probably so that the fares can be doubled the next season once the bait has been taken.
Then Jeffery discusses something he should be well aware of since he is from Illinois. Chicago has had its hand in the taxpayers’ pockets for a long time.
This is extra money for the ACE. Special events like this are money makers for agencies. Ballpark specials use existing equipment to make more trips. Revenue 6 cars with approx. 150 passengers each times $23 . Costs crew fuel and trackage to UP. It’s more use of existing equipment. No subsidy involved. Experiences priceless.
If fans can afford tickets to an NFL game, then why can’t they pay full price for train tickets? Instead, get the taxpayer to subsidize them. Who is the taxpayer? Everybody in the other states because it is no big secret, California is broke and will soon go to the other states with its hand out demanding more from those taxpayers.
No real need for p
The train for post season will have to run up to Seattle
Excuse me, Silly Goose; California is out of the red. Haven’t you been paying attention? Subsidies for special service for sporting events make a lot of sense to alleviate traffic congestion is a worthwhile cause. I would gladly ride the train and not to be stuck in traffic,. Sure, some nitwit like you would say “Why should my taxes support such service?” Well that translates to more space on the streets since riders forsook their automobiles for the train thus freeing up the streets. Yes, those special movement are very popular.
Eventhough I’m a California native with relatives and friends in the Bay Area, Michael Jackson’s post made me laugh.
Consider subsidies for a new or special service an investment in establishing good habits for the future. Just like an “introductory special” at the grocery store or anywhere else: get people on board, show them what the service is like, and hope that a number of them will be willing to continue as customers/passengers once the sale ends.
@ Daniel Kelly: because it’s the 49ers. Just kidding!
Even if the 49ers are leaving Candlestick for Santa Clara, at least their new facility will be served by CalTrain and ACE.
