Can anyone tell me where would be a affordable place to get some of the '76 cars and such? Thanks, Stephen
Check E-Bay
What were you looking for and what is your price range. The LHS I frequent has recently bought out another hobby shop. I don’t know if they still have them, but they had some 76 locos, cabooses, and cars. I have to go to the Dr. next week and will go by there. I think most of the stuff was RTR train set I.E. tyco, mantua, lifelike(not P2K)
I see them on Ebay sometimes and they are usually very cheap.
Heh, I had forgotten all about these ‘buy-buy-bicentennial’ relics till this past weekend, when ast the WGH train expo they had a layout with 5 or six loop of track, and around these loops went several of the mid-70s HO patrotic products. In addition to a train of Spirit of '76 boxcars, there was the dreaded Freedom train with those pseudo-baggage cars with windows displaying patrotic things (I got stuck with one as a present, and had no idea what to do with it - since ebay was 20 years into the future I probably just smashed it up), and in the middle of the loops was those wacky historical building kits, such as Independance Hall and a Lincoln Memorial (which was actually rather well done).
I know I sound unpatriotic, but I reallly hated the bicentennial stuff - what a waste of shelf space at the time…
He did have some cool fire-fighting equipment on flatcars on the “Firefighters’ Memorial Loop”
