I ground-pound through St Louis occasionally on business, and was wanting reccomendations on the “must see” model train stores in the area.
There are a BUNCH listed in the yellow pages, but I know from experience (I travel eight states) some train stores aren’t worth driving across the mall parking lot to visit, while others (i.e. Helena & Billings, MT) are worth forging your mileage log just to look through the “Sorry - CLOSED” sign at their inventory!
I am an HO modeler, with a mish-mash of inventory, but I leam more toward diesels.
Any suggestions?

K-10 is a really good little shop attatched to a huge layout. Prices are great and he carries a large HO inventory.

Check his opening times as they are not your typical store hours.
Hobby Station in Kirkwood is not bad. Neither is Switch Stand, which recently relocated from Maplewood to University City on Olive St., east of I-170. Mark Twain Hobby in St. Charles is good. Tinker Town in Ladue is primo, but they may have closed. Reynolds Railways in Dupo, Illinois is worth the extra miles…lot’s o’ stuff and it faces UP’s Dupo Yard. Henze’s Hobby House in Florrisant is excellent. Email me if you need more specific locations.
Well… I like hobbby station the most and then switch stand but make sure you have PLENTY of money if you go to switch stand. shaflers hobby is a real good place because they have plenty of HO stuff. Soooooo/

I am so glad i don’t see any of you while going to these stores but…maybe i have.
MWwwwwwwhahahaha ( ok thats enough of that)
(ps) if you se a kid about 12 years old in the hobby shop who has glasses> It probably me!
I go to Dupo quite often as my boys love to watch the yard at work. Reynolds has really been after the train-show business so on any given day the vast majority of the business’ inventory is in a convention hall, or in the trailer. Recent visits to the store have been disappointing with very little of anything on the shelves, its all at the train-show.
Isn’t Micro Engineering located in suburban Fenton, MO?
Is it just me, or does the questions about LHS’s in St. Louis get asked more than about any other city? Why is this? Seems to appear here about evere 2-3 mo’s. It is a great model railroad town. Just seems odd to me.

You are right, it does seem to come up often. I guess there are a lot of folks passing through and want to know where us locals go.
