Staple-end or Bar-end Survey

If you had your choice, would you opt for a Post War car with Staple-end or one with Bar-end trucks? OR does it really matter? As always, thanks.

For me, it doesn’t matter as long as the correct trucks are on the proper car as when it was built.

But I have seen more loose side frames with the staple end design.

I am not happy with my staple end trucks with coil couplers and flying shoes. bar end has simple mag couplers, no shoes

I agree! I have not noticed any difference in truck frames, nor do I have any that have come loose.

Thanks guys.

Another point of view here if I may. My preference would be on the car date. I would want the original type truck that came on the car. Also operating cars with the coil couplers had the problem of being uncoupled when the operating feature was used, but thats the way it was and being the sentimental guy I am, thats the way I like them. Converting those old cars with more modern trucks is like a restored 49 Chevy PU truck with a 305 V-8. It’s nice but it just ain’t the same. Ken

Thanks Ken.
