Hi Guys:
I was talking to my local Walthers guy and I asked him about static grass for N Scale. He said there really wasn’t any good scale grass for N. Is this true? Also, could someone please help with an affordable solution to static grass. Everything I see is like $12 for 1oz.

Most of the short fibers of static grass are about 3 mm long, that would make the grass 18" tall. Quite a lot!
I use Woodland Scenics Fine Turf instead - works nicely for me on my N scale layout.
Static grass just won’t look right. The ground foam works really well, the real fine stuff. I put down a burnt grass layer, just enough to cover not too thick. Then sprinkle very lightly a green blend and then another real light sprinkle of more burnt grass. The trick to the foam is texture. This is my real first layout not track elevation or anything so I apologize for the flat plywood look. Here’s some examples though :
