Is there or was there a Statue of Liberty in HO scale 1/87th?
Or an other scale that is not to much “out of scale” for 1/87 HO?
I guess if you are modeling NYC, this won’t do you any good, but there is a 2nd Statue of Liberty, 25’ high, sitting on an old railroad bridge in PA’s Susquehana River with an active train line just past the river bank. http://roadsidewonders.net/susquehanna-lady-liberty/
Such a thing would be out in the harbor. You would want the smallest statue you can get to lend the perspective of distance. Unless of course you are goingt to put the statue in the foreground and build your trains as the background.

Given that a true HO scale Statue Of Liberty would be 42" (3 1/2 feet) tall, would you actually want one on your layout?
In N scale, a full scale Statue Of Libery would be 22.875" in size (just under 2 feet).
The 16" model mentioned above would be just about right for Z scale. It’d be off by about .6"

Andre, you are right, in 1/87 it will be “big”.
What I would say with “out of scale” was the statue’s they are selling as tourist souvenirs in NYC.

It is 6 inches high, I think it is not possible to light up the torch because it is so small.

I think there are two ways to illuminate the torch:
One would be to use an 0402 warm white LED with magnet wire leads. If you’re not familiar with the nomenclature, ‘0402’ is the size of the LED - .004" x .002". Here is a prewired example:
You will need a 12 volt power supply and a 1/4 watt 1000 ohm resistor, or a 2.5 - 3 volt power supply, or two 1.5 volt batteries in series.
The wires are very fine and would be very hard to see if they were glued to the back of the arm and painted.
The other option would be to use fiber optic cable but it would require that the arm be removed so that it could be drilled for the cable. That could get messy.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the crown illuminated as well? Coring the crown and opening up the holes would require some very fine work, but I think it would be quite doable. Three or four 0402 LEDs would light the crown quite nicely.
One final note. You may have to paint the statue to prevent light from bleeding through the plastic if it is not completely opaque.

You would also have to add a ‘flame’ above the LED in the torch. That could be easily carved from a piece of clear styrene sprue.
Yes. The crown is where tourists look out. At night, the interior is illuminated, so light does spill out of the crown.

Thanks for posting the close up picture. I had never seen the statue in that detail before. I have always liked the Statue of Liberty even though I’m from Canada. It is a work of art and says volumes about what the United States is all about.

My reply is languishing in the moderators bin, but I don’t think I made my point. While different than the OP’s goal, any town with a river could be a Dauphin with a river, an old RR bridge and a miniature statue of liberty. Another modeling idea, google the nearby Millersburg Ferry, a rickety old paddlewheel driven ferry.

Actually, it is a pretty amazing story. The U.S. had to raise money for the base for the statue privately. Most of it came from school children, IIRC the average donation was less than $1.
