Steam in 1948

the video was so cool I love the detail in the video

Yes, you will find several era related discrepancies, like the Chessie hopper at :35. This is a very large club layout that reflects the interests of all of its many owners. It is not unusual to see a 4-4-0 American next to an SD70. It may not be perfectly prototypical, but it is a lot of FUN!

I’m sure this is a beautiful model, but I have yet to hear a sound system that sounds convincing for a steam locomotive. They all seem to sound as if the engine is dragging a long freight up a three-percent grade, wherever they are running. Steam exhaust at the distance shown in the video would be much more muted, and if just drifting, would be hardly audible. The chugging sounds vary, depending on how the reverse lever and valves are set. Also, the bell sounds like a swinging bell, not common on late steam locomotives like a Niagara.

Really enjoyed the video, and the sound was outstanding. Keep up the great work, and keep sending your videos in for us to enjoy.
Thank you.

It was a great video.

GREAT!

Love to see the steam engines.

Enjoyed the video.

Thanks for sharing the sight & sound of a great model passenger train. My lack of space restricts me to a freight switching layout so your video was all the more enjoyable for me.

Great scenery on the layout. Since it is a club layout, maybe we could see some video featuring the overall layout vice a particular train. Thanks for sharing.

really enjoyed the video keep up the good work

loved it

It is good to see that a club takes the interest of all club members. Keep up the good work and and have “FUN” Doing
it.

Very nice! Two things that I noticed. In one part you are showing steam era. Ok. But why the modern Chessie hopper car. It wasn’t around then. Also, I would have like to see more of your wonderful layout, except watching the same cars go by. But great job!
Thank you!

ccccccccccccccoooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
(cool)

Call out the anachronism squad! There was no Chessie System (note the covered hopper) in 1948, and the Western Maryland hopper with the speed lettering looks suspect also!

Looked good, sounded great, anice unit. Cheers

I liked the synchronization of sound to the drivers.

Outstanding video… as a Pennsy guy, I’ve just gotta find a way to work in the NYC into my plans - What a beautiful train!
