I will add in that Cuyahoga Valley runs a really good excursion train on their own as well. I was really impressed with the quality and condition of their equipment, their offerings in merchandise and even a working snack car. All above and beyond what many other excursion trains offer.

I have joined them as a supporter for the past 2 years now.

Transferred to the B&O’s Akron Div. in Sept. 1967 as an Operator, during 1968 I was assigned to work Bridge 460 off the extra list for a period of time. Got qualified as a Train Dispatcher in July 1970 and promoted to the B&O’s Officer Training Program in August 1970. During the Summer of 1971 I spent several months in training with headquarters at Clark Ave. Yard in Cleveland - supervising the various operations from Clark Ave. - Interchange with PC at Whiskey Island, Operation of the both the Cleveland Sub Local to Lester, Medina & Sterling, the Valley Local down the CT&V as far as Jaite, origination of train 194 from Cleveland to New Castle and 297 from Cleveland to Willard - delivering coal to Whiskey Island for Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. in East Cleveland and getting the empties back to the mines.

I was promoted to Asst. Trainmaster in Baltimore in November 1971.

All the history in the video was very illuminating, especially since most all of it was generated after I left the territory.

Tom Louderback was the shop foreman when I was hanging around there.
