Steam Loco on MR web page?

Hello, can someone tell me what is the name and model of the steam loco (2-8-2) on Model Railroader’s web page right over the"Menu bar"?

Thank you.

If you are refering to the steam locomotive on the header for the MR Magazine above, that’s a Nickel Plate Road Berkshire (2-8-4). Given that it’s been weathered, I couldn’t tell you specifically what specific manufacturer it may be or if it’s brass or plastic but Bachmann makes a NP Berk that’s pretty cheap right now. Regardless, it’s not a straight out of the box model.

The picture is on Tony Koester’s Allegheny Midland (torn down several years ago), and the model is lettered for Midland Route. As the previous poster noted, it is a Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 Berkshire.

My picture is N&W 4-8-0.

Thank you for the infos Flynn and Nigel [tup]

Great ! I’ve often wondered who’s photo it is, I thought it was a real locomotive, but on close scrutiny, the figures give it away. The weathering is astounding, that’s what real locomotives looked like, none of the “right out the factory door look”
