I headed over to Steamtown to bid farewell to CP #2317, a Pacific, on what most expected to be her last day of operation, however, I received some good news from both the fireman and confirmed via Steve Barry via Kip that some “days were saved” and the National Park has high hopes of running her once more, prior to the federally mandated major rebuild. The days were saved for the upcoming NRHS Convention to be held in 2010 at Steamtown. Mark your calendars and help see her off! Hopefully, the time and funds will come about to bring her back but the Park will turn it’s full attention towards restoration of an American steam engine already started being B&M #3713, also a Pacific.
Here are some pics of her on her last day of operation in 2009 during a wintry snowy day which kept many photographers away. Fortunately, the Moscow trip was well patronized.
