I don’t know why anyone would whine about a private company that wants to establish passenger rail on any line. It’s a dead cinch that Amtrak will never will be able to add passenger service at any point in the foreseeable future unless both Houses of Congress suddenly have a mass epiphany and decide that passenger rail in the US is the next great innovation.
